Why play with a cat?

In the game, the kitten learns the rules of behavior. For example, playing with other kittens, the baby is either a hunter or a victim, improves motor skills and learns different ways of interacting. And in games with a person, a kitten learns what can be used for playing (for example, balls, fur mice or feathers), and what are not suitable toys (hands and feet of a person, clothes, etc.)

Is play equally important for all cats?

There are cats for whom playing with the owner is more important than for others.

So, if an affectionate and sociable cat lacks communication with a person, it can become sad and depressed. And if you deprive an active cat of games, it can become irritable and nervous, as it cannot throw out energy in a peaceful direction.

Cats just love the game “Catch the bird”. You tie a feather shuttle to a stick with a string that looks like a fishing rod, and pull the “rod”. Feathers begin to move, while reproducing not only the movement of a bird in flight, but also the characteristic sound of plumage. You can either drag the toy across the floor so that the cat creeps up, or wave it in the air, prompting the pet to jump. But it is very important to finally let the purr catch the prey.

Another fun game is to cut holes in a cardboard box and cover some tennis balls on the floor with it. To pick up and get toys, the cat needs to coordinate the work of the eyes and paws.

If you are already tired, and the cat is still full of energy and enthusiasm, you can tie a rope with a fur “mouse” or a feather “bird” to the doorknob and direct a stream of air from a small fan onto them. The toy will move and the cat will hunt.
